On June 19, the European Research Center of the Human Rights Law Institute of Huazhong University of Science and Technology was officially established and listed in Vienna, Austria. Lu Guangjin, Secretary-General of the China Human Rights Research Association, Li Xiaosi, Chinese Ambassador to Austria, Koller, Deputy Speaker of the Austrian Federal Parliament, Gerd Kaminsky, Executive Vice Chairman of the Austrian-Chinese Friendship Association, Xu Xiaodong, Vice President of Huazhong University of Science and Technology Wang Xigen jointly unveiled the research center. Former President of Austria, President of the Austrian-Chinese Friendship Association Fisher, Austrian Prime Minister Bierlein, President of the Eurasian Pacific University Union Rausch, Vice Dean of the University of Vienna Law School Meißel, Law School International Exchange Professor Mazal, Austrian News Reporter Eder and others attended Five related teachers, Li Lei, Teng Rui, Li Du, Ma Xiao and Tang Liu, participated in the event.

During the event, Vice President Xu Xiaodong signed a memorandum of cooperation on behalf of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and the Austrian Austria-China Friendship Association. The two sides will carry out in-depth cooperation in legal personnel training, scientific research, and academic exchanges. Xu Xiaodong said that Huazhong University of Science and Technology, as a world-class university, has achieved significant development in the field of humanities and social sciences, and its human rights research is quite distinctive. I sincerely thank Mr. Kaminsky of the Austrian-Chinese Friendship Association for his warm help and look forward to deepening cooperation with the Austrian side, communicating with each other and promoting win-win and win-win. President Kaminsky devoted a lot of effort to the establishment of the center. Before that, he also paid a special visit to our school and was hired as a consultant professor.

The Institute of Human Rights Law of Huazhong University of Science and Technology is a human rights law research platform built by the school to further promote the theoretical research on human rights and implement the strategic deployment of the party and the state on strengthening the guarantee of the rule of human rights. The establishment of the European Research Center aims to strengthen the research cooperation between the Institute of Human Rights Law and European countries, improve the Institute ’s international research level, and thus enhance the Institute ’s international influence in the construction of a human rights discourse system.
